Eastern Kentuckians Honored In Frankfort

Kentuckians who made contributions to the arts were honored in Frankfort Wednesday.

Governor Fletcher presented awards in various categories in the Capital Rotunda. Pike County Extension Agent Stephanie Richards was honored in the government category. Richards' program was recognized for developing creative arts for children, entertainment, and other community services.

"I have the unique and blessed opportunity to serve as the nation's first extension agent for fine arts. What that means is I serve as the bridge that connects worlds of collaboration," Richards said.

Others honored included former U.K. Basketball Player La Von Van Williams for his word working abilities, J. Alexander Speer, Patricia Neal, the Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Healthcare, the Kentucky Book Fair, the Russell Orchestra, Lewis and Donna Lamb, and Morehead State Public Radio.
