Bill Gives Green Light To Increase Speed Limit On Kentucky's Interstates

A bill to raise the speed limit on Kentucky interstates gets a green light from the senate Wednesday. If approved, the maximum speed limit would go up to 70 miles per hour from 65.

The State Transportation Department would then choose which stretches of interstate would get the higher limit, but officials say it would likely be in rural areas.

The bill also affects the state's parkway system.

It now goes to the house.
