Knott County officials say the National Guard has stepped in to help them with their water crisis.
The Army National Guard arrived in Knott County Sunday afternoon to pump water out of Troublesome Creek, filter it, and pump it into the water system.
County officials say they have also drilled a new water well.
"It will allow us to rest the wells and clean out the wells that have been our only source of water for the city of Hindman for years," said Knott County Judge Executive Randy Thompson.
Officials say the new well should pump about one hundred and fifty thousand gallons a day and they hope that will be enough to keep the water running for everyone.
