Students Learn About Coal Mining

If you think Eastern Kentucky coal only affects our region, meet one group of high school students that traveled all the way from South Carolina to learn more about coal and mining, and trace the path of their energy.

"The goal of this trip is to find the source of our energy, and coal in South Carolina mostly comes from Kentucky, about 60 percent comes from Kentucky," Caroline Gieser who traveled from South Carolina.

"I guess we'll think more about where we get our energy, and try to save energy from now on," said Stuart Long.

The group looked at aerial views of mountaintop removal, and spoke with coal company officials as well.
