The prosecution began their case Tuesday, against a Letcher County man charged in connection with three deaths, resulting from an October 2005 car crash.

22 year old Jason Ison was driving his wife, his best friend, and his 16 year old cousin on Highway 15 in Letcher County more than a year ago when police say his car skidded on wet pavement and into oncoming traffic.

In court Tuesday, Ison became emotional several times as witnesses described the victims and the crash scene that several called the worst they had ever seen. The prosecution says two urine tests showed Ison was on drugs at the time of the accident and several EMT's testified that Ison was acting irrationally, grabbing his wife's dead body and asking her to wake up.

"I've never seen anything like that before. I've worked a lot of wrecks and he was just walking around in circles, mumbling, and he'd go back over and pick her up, go back over, walk in circles again," said EMT Linda Wagner.

Ison's lawyer says his client was obviously shaken from the crash and a blood test showed no drugs were affecting him that day.
