A Letcher County man is found guilty on multiple charges, including reckless homicide and assault.
Ending a long week in court that brought tears to many in the courtroom.
22 year old Jason Ison faced 11 different criminal counts in connection with the October 2005 car accident that killed three people, including his wife.
It was a very tense and very emotional verdict that was read just a short time ago in Letcher Circuit Court.
Ultimately leading to Jason Ison being taken into custody.
“We the jury find the defendant guilty, on the offense of reckless homicide.”
Four days after the trial began and nearly a year and a half since police say Jason Ison's car skidded on wet pavement killing his wife Misty Ison, his best friend Jimmy Boggs, and his 16 year old cousin, Buddy Bailey.
A jury found Jason Ison guilty on 10 separate criminal counts.
Prosecutors said Ison was high on drugs at the time of the accident, but the defense tried to prove he wasn't.
After deliberating for more than five hours, the jury found Ison not guilty of vehicular homicide instead, they convicted him of three lesser charges of reckless homicide.
Ison was also found guilty of 1st degree assault, and two counts of wanton endangerment after the car he hit injured this woman, tracy craft...and her two small children.
Extra security was brought into the courtroom, as emotions and tears ran through members of the jury, as well as family members on both sides several of those family members declined interviews.
The jury will be back in court Friday morning at 10:30 for the penalty phase of the trial.
Ison could face anywhere between 10, and 60 years, in prison.
