Forest fires continue to burn across Eastern Kentucky, and officials say the fires are getting closer to homes.
The Kentucky River Forestry District reported 11 fires across the region overnight, including Knott Perry, and Letcher Counties. The Southeastern District reported 12 fires Thursday, with 2 sites still active today in Bell County and one active site in Clay County.
Forestry officials say they are expecting to fight new fires Friday, as the dry weather continues.
Officials say more than one thousand acres have already burned this fire season, and they say the majority are caused by arsonists. You can report any arsons to the arson hotline at 1-800-27-ARSON.
Officials ask everyone to refrain from any burning from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m
