Some Forest Fires Continue Despite Rain

A forest fire in the Sizerock community of Leslie County grew to 19 hundred acres Wednesday.

Officials with the U.S. Forest Service say the rain slowed the flames from spreading.

They're still bringing in a ten person crew from Oklahoma to help battle the fire.

One barn has been destroyed, but no homes have burned.

Division of Forestry officials in Pineville say they didn't get much, if any rain Wednesday, and they're still battling 7 fires in Harlan and Bell Counties.

Officials say five of those fires are between four and five hundred acres each.

If you see someone setting a fire, you should call the arson hotline at 1-800-27-ARSON.
