Some students in Johnson County are academic state champions!
Johnson County Middle School students won the Governor's Cup in the academic competition. Students returned late Monday night with their trophy in hand. This isn't the first time for the middle school. It's their fifth victory in a row. County officials say no other school in the state has five wins.
"We practiced a whole lot this year. I guess that's what did it, practice makes perfect," said Faiyad Mannan.
"It feels pretty good. It definitely feels awesome, that's all I have to say," said Olivia Ellis.
"When we first started this 13 years ago, we wondered if we would ever have one and now we're the only school in Kentucky with five, so we're extremely proud of that," said Superintendent Steve Trimble.
