Fallen Soldier Honored

Just before noon, a private jet carrying Staff Sergeant Terry Prater's body arrived in Knoxville.

It's been an incredibly emotional morning at TacAir alongside McGhee Tyson Airport as the wife, children, friends and family of SSGT Terry Prater came here to welcome him for the last time.
Staff Sergeant Terry Prater was 25-years-old.

Just short time ago his flag draped casket was moved from a private jet as honor guards and even airport onloookers stopped to pay their respect to a soldier who served three tours in Iraq fighting for our country.

For the honor guards here today, its more than an assignment, this is a cause they've chosen to dedicate their lives to just as Sgt. Prater did for our country.

His family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 at Claiborne Funeral Home.

A memorial service will follow.

On Monday March 26th, there will be a funeral procession from the funeral home to Norris Lake to scatter Staff Sergeant Prater's ashes.

We'll have much more on this fallen hero coming up tonight on Mountain News at Six.
