LOT, Ky. (AP) - A man shot his way into a home in southeastern
Kentucky early Wednesday morning, killing one and injuring three
others, police said.
Teddy Keith Hurst, 40, was charged with murder and three counts
of attempted murder, Whitley County Jailer Ken Mobley said.
Police in Whitley County received a call at 7:20 a.m. EDT that a
shooting had occurred at a home near the Tennessee border, Sheriff
Lawrence Hodge said.
Hodge said police located Hurst, of Frakes in Bell County,
during a manhunt Wednesday afternoon near the house where the
Quinton C. Prewitt, 82, was shot in the head and suffered fatal
injuries, Hodge said. His son, Jerry Wayne Prewitt, 51, and Deborah
L. Dople, 50, were also shot and transported to Jellico Community
Hospital in Tennessee, Trosper said. Prewitt's grandson, Quinton
Michael Prewitt, 25, was also shot but his injuries were minor,
Trosper said. All four lived near Lot in southern Whitley County.
The hospital would not release information about the injured.
