Accident In Letcher County Kills Two People

A single vehicle accident in Letcher County leaves two people dead.

Police say 29 year old Douglas G. Watts of Sand Lick was driving along Highway 119 in the Payne Gap community when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a wooden fence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in the car, 22 year old Landis Lane of Sand Lick was transported to Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital and later air lifted to U.K. where he was pronounced dead.

Police say they do suspect alcohol was a factor in the accident.
