Former Knott County Sheriff Dies

A former Eastern Kentucky sheriff has died.

William Taulbee Pratt died Tuesday after a sudden illness. Besides being elected Knott County Sheriff, he was also a former state trooper and a graduate of the first State Police Academy.

Taulbee was also a U.S. Army Veteran, former instructor at the Hazard State Vocational School, and a former service station owner.

His funeral will be at one o'clock Saturday afternoon at Hindman Funeral Services.

Pratt was 82 years old.
