"Garden Week" Underway

Gardeners are planting and pruning all of their flowers and plants in Pike County this week.

The "Master Gardeners" in the county have organized "Garden Week." There are activities everyday this week for old pros and the beginner gardeners from figuring how the best way to plant flowers to preserving the plants already in the ground. The week ends with a tour of all the gardens in the county on Saturday.

"Everybody knows the importance of gardens, both flower gardens and vegetable gardens and it's just our way of drawing attention to it and this time of the year, it's pertinent," said Bill Ramey.

You don't have to have your own garden to take the tour on Saturday. Tickets are five dollars. The tour leaves the Pike County Extension Service Office at one o'clock.
