Police Warning Senior Citizens Of Scam

State police in Harlan County say a strange man entered the home of an elderly woman yesterday after claiming to work for her insurance company.

State police were at the Harlan County Senior Citizens Center to speak to them about how to avoid scams. Police say the man told the Bledsoe woman he was there to pick up her insurance check, but when she went to get the money he came in and stole some cash.

"The subject is a white male, early 30's, he's approximately 5'10" to 6' tall and about 160 pounds, has got light brown hair with a burr hair cut," said Trooper Walt Meachum.

State police say always ask to see a company ID if someone comes to your door.
