A Clay County man sentenced to 20 years in prison two years ago for murdering a man in 2003 is now free.
The Kentucky Vine Notification Service says Tim Finley was released from prison Thursday. This comes after the Supreme Court threw out his murder conviction last month. The court said the Commonwealth did not provide needed evidence for the conviction and said the trial court did not provide the jury with correct instructions.
Three men were accused of killing Jimmy Mills and dumping his body over a hill in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Court officials say his brother Shannon Finley could also soon be released and the third man, Brock Bowling, could now get a new trial.
