GOP Leader Says Senators Are Frustrated By Iraq

WASHINGTON (AP) - Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell says senators in both parties are frustrated with the Iraqi government.

He says there's a growing sense of bipartisan frustration over the lack of progress.

He added that he believes lawmakers would move to pull troops out of Iraq if the Iraqi government asked the U-S to leave.

McConnell spoke today on CNN's "Late Edition."

McConnell, the minority leader, says benchmarks will be a part of the final troop funding bill sent to the president.

Bush has offered to seek compromise with congressional Democrats over a war spending bill setting benchmarks for progress in Iraq.
