14 Laurel County Government Employees Receive Lay Off Notice

Fourteen people who work for Laurel County government agencies are losing their jobs.

The Sentinel Echo reports that the fiscal court voted to lay off employees from the road and solid waste departments, the animal shelter, and the courthouse custodial staff.

County officials say the lay-offs are needed to save money and will amount to reducing the budget by about six hundred and thirty thousand dollars.

The pink slips take effect June 30th.
