14 Laurel County Workers Receive Lay Off Notice

Budget constraints are forcing Laurel County leaders to lay off more than a dozen county workers.

The county judge says various county expenses are growing faster than county revenue forcing them to lay off 14 workers from different county departments.

"This is not a pleasant thing to do but we tried to look at different things to try to cut back on expenses for this coming fiscal year," said Laurel County Judge Executive Lawrence Kuhl.

County officials say they're cutting over two million dollars in funds to various community organizations that they normally help out. They're also pulling funding for the annual 4th of July fireworks show in London that's now in jeopardy.
