A widow is asking why someone would vandalize her husband's grave. It happened in the Balkan community of Bell County.

Mary Hunley says it still seems like yesterday when she lost her husband to a heart attack. Now she says the only place she can go to visit him has been damaged and she wants to know who did it.

"Wasn't a better person in the world than he was," Hunley said.

That's why Mary Hunley says she wanted to have a nice place to remember her husband, Grover. But at some point earlier this week, she says someone dug over a foot deep into Grover's grave and eventually took a concrete bench and several statues. Hunley says the vandals took from the only thing she has left for her husband.

"It just broke my heart to think somebody could be this low, to steal from a grave," Mary said.

Police say vandals have targeted the Balkan Cemetery before taking flags from a veteran's memorial and even taking out a whole section of fencing.

Mary Hunley says she wishes the vandals would've had least let her know before they targeted her husband's final resting place.

"If they had said they needed one, I'd have gone out and gotten them one instead of them taking his," she said.
