The international champions for the Academic High School Future Problem Solvers are right here in Eastern Kentucky.
Johnson County Central's team took first place in the competition held in Fort Collins, Colorado. The team of four teens plus two alternates practiced everyday for a month leading up to the event. Team members say it was stressful competing against teams from around the world, bit are excited they were declared the best.
"After state our goal was to win, but we knew at such a level of competition, it would be difficult but we were hoping to make the top ten so winning was amazing," said team member Allison Dye.
This is the third time Johnson Central has won the international competition.
