Leaders of the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department ousted when county leaders took it over three days ago are back in power tonight.
The department's original president says a federal judge granted them an injunction this afternoon which reverses any action county leaders took this week to take over the department. The county judge says there are serious questions about the department's spending practices. The department's president says those allegations are false.
"And we hope we can gain the trust and confidence of the people of Bell County once again," said Bell County Volunteer Fire Department President Lewis Wilder.
"Lawyers were able to get O.J. set free. We'll continue to fight for the taxpayers. We've already shown them what kind of leadership is there," said Bell County Judge Executive Albey Brock.
Attorneys for Bell County and the fire department are expected to argue their cases in federal court in London at 9am Monday morning. Everyone involved says the county is fully covered in case of fires or other emergencies.
