Man killed on his way to help his father

Police say two trucks slammed into each other head on in Laurel County, killing a man on his way to see his parents. He was only a mile from their home at the time of the crash.

It happened Thursday morning on Somerset Road.

Police say 50 year old Ernest Hampton's truck ended up over a 20 foot embankment. He died at the scene. The other driver, 22 year old Shawn Wagers, was airlifted to UK Hospital.

Family members tell 27 NEWSFIRST Hampton was going to this parent's house with stay with his father for the day, who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease.
