Rounds of heavy rain will begin to move into the area later tonight, leading to the increased potential for flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area from now through Thursday and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, temperatures will drop and transition our rain to sleet and eventually to snow. Most of the area could see several inches of snow and sleet before it's all said and done. A Pikeville High School junior accomplished something only several hundred students around the country achieve each year.
Shikha Sachteva got a perfect score on the ACT
She took the test in December and just recently got her results back, a 36, the highest possible score.
"I think its really cool. It will definitely be a really good part of my resume, so pretty excited." Sachteva said.
"I think it's just a great think, a great accomplishment. It's a testament to her work ethic and the preparation she put into this, not just this year, but the many years she's been in school." Royce Mayo, the Principal of Pikeville High School said.
She wants to go to college at either Duke or Brown and wants to be an orthopedic surgeon.
