An Eastern Kentucky woman is in jail accused of killing her husband in their home late Saturday night.
A little after midnight, the Laurel County Sheriff's Department received a call about a shooting. The caller was a Laurel County woman who said she had just shot her husband.
"I've not saw her and her little girl here is already asking about mommy," said Rosella Sergent, mother of the shooting suspect.
Laurel County Sheriff's Department officials say they received a call after midnight on Saturday from Rosalee Karr saying she had shot her husband David Karr. Rosella says Rosalee called her to tell her mom her side of the story.
"She said David took the gun and pointed it toward his stomach and told her to pull the trigger and she did because she thought the gun was empty," Rosella said.
Officials say David was taken to Marymount Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Sergent says two of Rosalee's four children were at home when the shooting occurred.
"I hated to hear this happened, not just for my daughter, for him too and his parents," Rosella said.
Sergent brought Rosalee's two youngest children to the home Sunday afternoon to get some of their belongings so they could stay with her.
Officials say Rosalee Karr is being held at the Laurel County Detention Center on murder charges.
"I worry about my daughter and what's going to happen to her, that's my main concern and these kids," Rosella said.
The Laurel County coroner says funeral arrangements for David Karr have not been made yet. Rosalee Karr is scheduled to be in Laurel County court on June 27th.
