Family members of an elderly man who was found in his truck at the bottom of the Kentucky River are remembering him tonight.

Crews pulled the truck out of the water about 24 hours after he went off an embankment and into the water.

We talked to some of 84-year old Jessie young's family.

They say he will never be forgotten.

Bill baker is Jessie young's nephew. He had to find out about what happened while recovering from an injury at the Hazard ARH.

“It's hard,” Baker says. “Very hard. I'm laying here in the hospital and couldn't do anything about it. I can't talk to him I just don't know what I’m going to do.”

Young's body was found at the bottom of the Kentucky river Wednesday afternoon after crews searched well in to the evening Tuesday night.

Now family members are remembering the good times they had with him.

“Going to Florida,” Baker says. “Going out looking at the gators and working with him. That was a lot of fun. He really enjoyed stuff like that.”

“I stayed all night with him and my great aunt they're both good people and I know he went to heaven,” Young’s Great Niece Tammy Williams says.

“Fourth of July was a big time for us with Uncle Jessie,” Young’s Great Nephew Lloyd Baker. “He'd throw the biggest cookouts biggest fourth of July fireworks. Uncle Jessie was a good man.”

Williams says Jessie young would help anyone who needed it.

“If he had it, you had it,” Williams says. “If he could help you in any way he'd help you.”

Lloyd Baker says it will be tough to move on without his great uncle.

“I just love you Uncle Jessie,” Lloyd Baker. “I'm going to miss you.”

It is still not known why young's truck ended up in the Kentucky River.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
