Church Controversy

When worshipers came to the Gun Creek Church of Christ Sunday morning, they found padlocks on the doors and a no trespassing sign.

"When I am trying to get people off drugs and come to the Lord, why would somebody protest that?" says Preacher Orville Shepherd.

The church building hasn't been used since the original church closed nine years ago. The current property owners say the preacher started using the building two months ago without their permission.

"Why does one or two people come in and try to place ownership over something that is supposed to be of God?" says Shepherd.

The property owners say the legal deed states the building must be used for only the Church of Christ and the members can decide who preaches there. The property owners told us they didn't feel Shepherd was the right man for the church.

Building owners say they feel its unfortunate an argument over the church building has come to this.
