A winter storm is expected to impact the area overnight through late
Wednesday.
A complex and powerful winter storm will bring rain, accumulating
snow, and some mixed precipitation to portions of eastern Kentucky
overnight through late Wednesday.
The precipitation will start out as snow and then begin to mix with rain from south to north overnight.
By late Tuesday morning most locations should experience rain, expect for spots north of the mountain parkway where mostly snow will fall. Brief periods of sleet or freezing rain will be possible
during this time.
Tuesday evening, a powerful arctic front will blast through the area and quickly change all precipitation over to snow with winds of 30 to 35 mph possible.
Blowing snow along with rapidly dropping temperatures and wind chills below zero appear likely.
I will have much more on this in my blog.
