The rain will transition over to snow as we head into mid to late morning across the area. We will see the chances for light accumulation in the valley areas with 1-3" possible on the ridge tops above 2000 feet. Slick spots are possible on untreated roads. While significant snow is not expected, we have issued a Severe Weather Alert Day to keep you informed on possible negative impacts to travel through Tuesday afternoon.
The Wayne County coroner says the body of 24 year old Jimmy Lowman has been recovered from Lake Cumberland.
We're told Lowman was swimming with friends when he went under water Thursday afternoon.
Lowman is from Oklahoma, and was visiting friends in Kentucky. Officials say Lowman and his friends were camping out Wednesday night, and were at the Lake Cumberland area all day today.
Officials say Lowman and his friends were crossing the lake at Beaver Creek and when they got half way over he decided to go back. We're told he went without a float and that's when he ran into some trouble. Witnesses say a female friend tried to save him but couldn't.
Several agencies were called to help search for the man, including Kentucky Division of Fish and Wild Life Resources, Wayne and Russell Counties search crews.
Lowman's body was found around 3:45 p.m. The coroner says his cause of death is still under investigation. His body is being sent to Frankfort for autopsy where a toxicology test will also be performed.
