A "Restore America Rally" is set for Saturday at the State Capitol.

The Executive Director of Restore America Kentucky says the rally is focusing on issues such as the ultrasound bill, supporting coal, and to stand against expanding gaming in the state.

They hope lawmakers will hear their concerns.

Jeff Fugate says it's time for the state and the country to get back to its roots.

“Let's restore America,” Fugate says. “Let's go back to the constitutional freedoms rather than having these agencies that have more power than the law and the constitution.”

“There are other folks like us,” Bible Baptist Church Pastor Dean DeMaris says. “And as we band together, we hope to have an influence to restore America to what it ought to be.”

DeMaris is taking a group from Perry County to Frankfort. He says he wants their voices heard.

“Too many times folks are pulling away for what we stand for would pull our congressmen and people away from the foundation of where we began this country,” DeMaris says.

Another topic will be coal and the EPA's standards for getting permits. DeMaris says coal is a vital part of the state.

‘We need coal to survive,” DeMaris says. “We need coal for jobs, airports, hospitals, and to build things that we need here in the mountains.

Fugate says the people have voiced their concerns about the idea of expanded gaming, yet some continue to push for it.

“The people absolutely do not want that,” Fugate says. “I feel like we're an example in Kentucky of what's going on nationwide in our federal government where they seem to completely ignore its constituency.”

And DeMaris says folks are tired of being ignored.

DeMaris says they are expecting more than 75-hundred people at the rally, which is set for noon on Saturday.
