The snow was heavy at times, makinng roads slick in a hurry.

Some roads are in terrible shape, not only here but all across the region.

We talked to some people earlier who were preparing to be snowed in.

The snow started consistently at little after seven and it is wreaking havoc on the roads.

A part of Highway 80 was shut down after several wrecks were reported.

“It got slick all at once,” Ralph Thompson says. “A vehicle stopped in front of me and I jackknifed. Just couldn't stop.”

People are rushing to the stores to get the necessities in the event they get snowed in.

“I had to run over here to pick up a couple of things and I didn't know it was like this,” LouElla Farler says. “It wasn't snowing like this when I left home my mother and I ran out to pick up a few things and here we are.”

The snow has not stopped farler from getting out doing the things she needs to do.

“I go to work everyday and do what's necessary and enjoy it and make the best of whatever happens,” Farler says. “It is back and it's very pretty and I’ve enjoyed it this winter but I’m ready for it to move on.”

One person we talked to says the almost 50 inches of snow this winter is the most he's seen.

“I remember when we were younger it would snow two or three feet once or twice a year but I’ve never remember having snow like this every week for an entire winter,” Ryan McGraner says.

Thompson says stay inside if you can help it because the roads are a mess.

“Especially right here is a bad spot it's slanted to the bank and anytime it gets slick, this is where everybody wrecks at,” Thompson says.

But if you do need to get out, drive very carefully.

Police say if you need to get out, give yourself a little extra time to get to wherever you need to go.
