ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) - A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in federal court at Ashland, seeking compensation on behalf of the estate of a man killed in a 2006 car crash in Greenup County.
Sixty-four-year-old Hubert Worthington was a passenger in a car driven by 84-year-old William Taylor on May first, last year, when their car collided with one operated by Ohio resident John Spratt. Worthington died of injuries suffered in the collision.
Taylor was indicted earlier this month by a Greenup County grand jury for second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence. But the wrongful death suit targets Spratt, saying he operated his vehicle in a reckless manner and caused the wreck.
The suit was originally filed in Greenup Circuit Court in April, but was moved this month to US District Court in Ashland. Because Spratt is an Ohio resident, it is up to the federal court to oversee the civil action.
