Some coal miners are going home with a full stomach thanks to local banks.

Community Trust Banks across the region hosted Coal Miner Appreciation Day. Coal miners were given a free lunch, and also competed for prizes.

"We appreciate them and everything they do for us, and what they mean to our community. They help us keep the lights on," Janice King, of Community Trust, said.

Perry County Judge Executive Denny Ray Noble and Hazard Mayor Bill Gorman were also there to thank coal miners in Hazard.
