Money Secured For Commercial Airline In Somerset

The airport terminal remains empty two years after it was built, but many still believe commercial airline service is coming to Somerset.

The airport manager says one of the last hurdles was cleared this week. Congressman Hal Rogers says he's secured $400,000 for navigational equipment. The terminal is ready for arrivals and departures as are some potential customers.

"I had calls as recently as yesterday, people wanting to fly out of Somerset. It's about an every day thing," said Ron Swartz with the Somerset-Pulaski Airport.

Airport officials hope to offer three daily flights from Somerset to a connecting city starting early next year.
