With skateboard parks popping up all over Eastern Kentucky...another county is jumping on the trend too.
The Letcher County fiscal court has approved plans to spend nearly 110-thousand dollars on a new skate board park for its youth. The park will be located near West Whitesburg Middle School. City officials actually had several young, local skaters come in to help design and setup the park.
"I've never really been on a skateboard...and I didn't really know what we needed," says Letcher County Judge Executive Jim Ward. "It gets them involved and it lets them know that their opinion does count."
County officials hope to have the skateboard park open later this fall.
