FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Governor Fletcher's office says Kentucky
Transportation Cabinet officials are making unscheduled inspections
and reviewing past reports for all of the state's long-span
Fletcher had ordered the transportation cabinet to check
inspection data and determine if any additional inspections or
safety precautions were warranted in the wake of Wednesday's deadly
bridge collapse in Minnesota.
According to the statement, transportation officials will look
at the latest inspection reports for all bridges longer than 500
feet and rated as structurally deficient. Officials will also make
unscheduled inspections at those bridges.
There are 38 bridges at issue, according to a report released
with the statement.
