While the worst of the weather held off this afternoon, it looks like we will still see some strong storms later tonight, generally between 8 p.m. and midnight. These storms will likely feature strong winds and hail, with heavy rain and an isolated tornado (mainly possible in the Cumberland Valley/I-75 corridor) being the secondary threats. A Letcher County coal miner has filed a discrimination complaint with MSHA against his employer after, according to the Lexington Herald Leader, he was written up for giving federal officials a video.
The video showed problems at the mine where he works.
The paper reports Charles Scott Howard, who works at the Cumberland River Coal Company's Band Mill Number 2 Mine, shot the video of faulty mine seals and gave it to MSHA officials during a public hearing on the new mine seal regulations.
