U.S. senate candidate and Secretary of State Trey Grayson was in Eastern Kentucky this week, meeting with voters.

Grayson addressed a packed room at J. Milton's restaurant in Middlesboro on Thursday.

He says talking to folks in our region is vital.

"I like to come back and remind voters who I am, and the record I have...and look them in the eye and say when I ran before, I kept my word. I promise I will not forget you and I haven't. When I go to Washington, I'm not going to forget the needs either," said Grayson.

Grayson talked about the issues he plans to bring to Washington.

"We are going to focus on cutting spending, protecting coal, and doing the right kind of health reform and keeping us safe. That's the promise I'm going to make," said Grayson.

"I think the coal fields need to be cognitive of this senate race. He addressed coal and I can safely say he is a friend of coal and that's what is important right now," said Bell County Judge Executive, Albey Brock.

The Bell County Chamber of Commerce has invited the other U.S. senate candidates, but nothing is setup yet.

On Monday, we will talk to two of the other candidates in the senate race, Rand Paul and Jack Conway.
