Former State Representative Scott Alexander entered a not guilty plea to fourth degree assault in court Friday morning.

Alexander is accused of pulling a man out of a vehicle in Hazard and punching him several times. The alleged victim suffered minor injuries.

He also did not object to the judge's decision to remove Alexander's GPS tracking device, saying he does not feel threatened anymore.

"With the facts as they are and we know them to be, we have every confidence that this case can be presented to a jury and Scott Alexander totally vindicated," James Hampton, Alexander's attorney, said.

The victim is also seeking financial restitution for hospital fees from the injuries.

The pre-trial date is Friday May 28. If convicted, Alexander could spend up to one year in jail.
