Civic Night was held in the first federal center at hazard community and technical college.

The people recognized tonight have accomplished so many things throughout the Hazard-Perry County area and officials feel it is important to recognize them.

Governor Steve Beshear was the keynote speaker for civic night. He helped recognize six people for their hard work throughout the area.

State representative Fitz Steele won the 'man of the year' award. He says it's a big honor.

“It makes me feel like I’m doing something right and some of my accomplishments are being recognized,” Steele says. “In the line of work I’m in we don't get many praises and it's a boost and i really appreciate it.”

Here are the other winners:

Timothy Baker - Youth of the Year
Andrew Abbott - Teen of the Year
Stacey Noble - Young Woman of the Year
Benjamin Campbell - Young Man of the Year
Janice King - Woman of the Year.
Fitz Steele - Man of the Year

Each of the winners received a plaque recognizing their efforts to make Hazard-Perry County a better place to live.
