Former Manchester Mayor Expected To Plead Guilty To Federal Charges

Late word tonight that the former mayor of Manchester plans to plead guilty in federal court to a charge that he took part in a conspiracy that included arson, mail fraud and extortion as he and others sought to control the city for their benefit.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports an attorney for Daugh White filed a motion Friday to rearraign White. That means it's a request to hold a hearing for White to plead guilty.

The motion says White will admit guilt on a conspiracy charge and on a forfeiture count, which seeks to recover money from the mayor and others.

The others named in the indictment are Todd Roberts, former assistant police chief, and Darnell Hipsher, a city council member.
