Another public meeting tonight to let customers voice concerns about AEP wanting to increase their monthly power bills.
Customers and local officials gathered at Hazard Community and Technical College to speak with the Public Service Commission about the proposed hike.
Officials from the power company want a 24-percent rate increase that would raise customers' bills by nearly 35-percent.
The president of Kentucky power says it is necessary.
“We can trim additional trees we can set up better zones for reliability and if the power does go off because of a storm, we can get it turned back on faster with some of the programs that we have,” Tim Mosher says.
The public service commission will meet with a-e-p officials on may 25th to discuss the proposed rate adjustment
