Four people are facing murder charges in a case that was first thought to be a hit and run, but investigators say they are still investigating.
Police say Gerald Sizemore was severely beaten over the weekend. As a family mourns the death of a loved one, the investigation into his murder continues. Manchester police and the Clay County Sheriff's Office have been working together to make arrests of the 4 men allegedly responsible for the death of Sizemore.
The three arrests were made after police interviewed the first suspect, Johnny Sizemore. His brother, Eugene Sizemore, and his nephew, Michael "Lucky" Allen Sizemore, were also taken into custody as well as Nathan McDaniel.
"An argument took place, which lead to a fight," said Jeff Culver with the Manchester Police Department.
"Tempers flared. It first began in the living room area of John Sizemore's residence and then progressed out into the driveway of the residence," said Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson.
Police say the victim, Gerald Sizemore, then drove home, clipped a utility pole along the way, and stumbled into his house. Sizemore later died due to his injuries in Lexington. The investigation into the murder continues.
"Information we have gathered, we know that there was alcohol involvement. Most of the parties that were there, present, had been drinking," Culver said.
All four men have been charged with murder and are being held at the Clay County Detention Center. Police say they are thankful for the public's help in capturing these suspects, but are still looking for more information.
"We're still asking the public if they know anything about this. If they can, come forward. We'll try to keep them as anonymous as we can," Culver said.
Police say they are waiting for toxicology reports to determine if narcotics were involved the night of the murder.
