Heat Advisory Issued, Extended For Portions Of Eastern Kentucky

A heat advisory is in effect for Pulaski, Wayne, Mccreary, Whitley, Knox, and Bell counties through 8pm Friday. High temperatures will be into the mid and upper 90s across the area this afternoon. The combination of heat and humidity will make it feel close to – if not above – 100 degrees in most locations. The record high temperatures for Jackson and London on this date are 90° and 95°, respectively; these records will be threatened if not shattered come later on this afternoon. Another day of oppressive heat

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Ensure that pets and other outdoor animals have access to plenty of shade and water. Also, never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
