Family members call her a devoted wife and young mother, and now they are mourning the loss of Jessica Roberts Johnson.
She died in a car accident Sunday on Highway 15 in Perry County.
31-year-old Jessica Roberts Johnson once worked as a nurse at a local hospital and was the mother of two young children. Now her husband is remembering her short life.
Family members say it's hard to cope losing a daughter, mother and wife.
Jessica Johnson died in an accident on Highway 15 in Grapevine on Sunday.
Her husband says she was visiting her mother's grave early Sunday afternoon and had just dropped her kids off.
“She was going to the store and the policeman came up the driveway and told me what happened,” Jimmy Ed Johnson says.
Johnson graduated from Hazard High School in 1996. She was a member of the award winning Hazard Band of Gold, and was field commander her senior year.
And now someone who gave so much to her community is gone.
“A lot of people knew and loved Jess,” Johnson says. “She gave a lot. She was a nurse, and coached a little league t-ball team. She gave a lot.”
Johnson's favorite memory of Jessica was when she gave birth to their daughter, Jerryn.
“It looked like she made miracle,” Johnson says. “And she felt that way too.”
Johnson says he can never replace the love of his life and she will be greatly missed.
“People like her don't come around very often,” Johnson says. “She was a great mother, a great wife, a great woman and we love her always.”
The visitation for Johnson is from 6 until 9 Wednesday at Maggard's Mountain View Chapel in Hazard. The funeral is at 1:00p.m. Thursday.
