Whitley County Man Arrested for Indecent Exposure

A Whitley county man is arrested after police say he did not have a certain body part covered.

49-year-old Michael Kennedy of Corbin was arrested Monday and is charged with indecent exposure and driving on a suspended license.

Police say the 312 boat ramp in Corbin is a hot spot for people to 'hook up.'

Police are now stepping up their patrols to hopefully prevent this from happening.

The Corbin Police Department received a bizarre complaint at the 312 Boat Ramp in Corbin. Michael Kennedy was allegedly asking people for sexual favors while wearing very little clothing.

“Mr. Kennedy had no shirt on, had on a pair cutoff jeans,” Rob Jones with the Corbin Police Department says. “He had the backs cut out of them where you can see hit buttocks and the front was cut kind of like a bikini pattern and you can see his genitalia.”

Jones says this is not the first time something like this has happened in that area.

“We put up cameras about two or three years ago,” Jones says. “We worked with fish and wildlife and took that to court. I know they did stings five to ten years ago up here.”

Police say this is a spot for people to 'hook up' and often go down the area trails to have sex. One person who stopped to eat lunch says he is not surprised someone was caught allegedly exposing himself to people.

“This used to be a great place to come out and bring your family and go down to these tables and stuff to eat and have a picnic and everything,” Golvin Chadwell says. “Now it's just ruined nobody will come out anymore.”

Chadwell says the recent arrest will not stop him from coming back to the 312 Boat Ramp to relax.

The Corbin Police Department will increase patrols in the area.

Kennedy was being held in the Whitley County Detention Center. He is scheduled to be in district court next Tuesday.
