The flood waters are beginning to slowly recede across most of Eastern Kentucky and the snow showers are coming to an end. Roads will remain slick tonight as temperatures drop below zero. A Southeastern Kentucky brick plant is closing.
The General Shale brick plant in Corbin will close on September 28th and nearly 50 people will lose their jobs.
Company spokesperson Mark Kinser tells us the plant is closing because of a slow housing market right now leading to a low demand for bricks.
He says if the market conditions improve, the company would consider re-opening the plant.
