CAMPTON Fourteen suspected drug dealers from three Eastern Kentucky counties were targeted for arrest Tuesday, September 11.
The roundup operation followed a six-month undercover investigation by Operation UNITE. All of the drug purchases occurred in Wolfe County.
³We purchased marijuana and cocaine -- and everything in between,² said Mike Luttrell, manager of UNITE¹s Kentucky River Drug Task Force.
Law enforcement officials began picking up suspect about 8 a.m. After being processed at the Campton Fire Department those arrested were lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail.
Pastor David Spencer of the Bear Pen Worship Center was on hand to counsel those arrested as they were brought in for processing.
Participating in the roundup along with UNITE were members of the Wolfe County Sheriff¹s Office, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, and Kentucky State Police Morehead Post.
This was the fourth time UNITE has staged a roundup in Wolfe County.
³You may not always see us, but our detectives are actively working to rid Wolfe County of these dealers,² Luttrell said. ³One way citizens can help is by anonymously reporting suspected drug activity by calling our toll-free tipline at 1-866-424-4382.²
