Victory Puts Wildcats Into AP, USA Today Football Rankings

The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off that dramatic 40-34 win over then 9th ranked Louisville, marking UK's first win over a top-10 team in 30 years.

The national rankings came out earlier today, and the cats are ranked number 21 in the Associated Press Poll and no. 23 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll.

Senior quarterback André Woodson led the way by completing 30 of 44 passes for 275 yards and four touchdowns, including the 57-yard game-winner to senior wide receiver Steve Johnson with 28 seconds remaining.

It is UK's first appearance in the AP ranking since the 1984 season-ending poll, when the Wildcats were rated number 19. The team's last appearance in the USA today poll came on Nov. 15, 1998, when Tim Couch and the Wildcats came in at number 25.

After falling to UK, Louisville is now sitting at number 18th and 19th in both polls.

Also, ESPN classic has announced that it will show the Kentucky-Louisville game Wednesday at 7:00, as part of a "double instant classic" evening.
