Inmate charged with trying to stab corrections officer

A Johnson County man is charged with trying to stab a corrections officer at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

Jail officials say early Tuesday morning, officers were booking 50 year old Johnny Ray Castle on alcohol charges when he allegedly pulled a knife from under his clothes.

Jail officials say Castle tried to stab the guard until officers got him under control.

No one was injured.

Castle is charged with assault and carrying a concealed deadly weapon into the jail.
